Yes its that time of year again. So what’s your plan this year?

Where you just going to leave it to the last minute again and compete with the rest of the country for the last few items on the shelves come Christmas Eve?

I know that with this little guide you can help save yourself from a lot of stress this Christmas so take a few minutes to read on.

1) Its always best to make a start with a list of people you want to buy presents for.

Do not feel pressured into buying big gifts for everyone. As the old saying goes ‘its the thought that counts’ so you can just buy small gifts for some people.

Lots of family members come to an agreement prior to Christmas not to exchange gifts.

If money is maybe a bit tight for you this year then maybe you should consider this option.

2) Work out your budget. How much do you want to spend in total this Christmas on gifts.

Don’t forget things like wrapping paper and cards. Take that figure and divide it into amounts you’d like to spend on each person on your list.

3) Be strict with your budget! I’ve made this a separate point as its so easy to get carried away when your in the shops and spend much more than you intended on your Christmas presents. I know as I’ve been there myself.

4) To make your Christmas gifts a success its always best to ask the main people you will be spending money on what they would actually like. Likewise make a list of things you would like to receive so you can give people options of things to buy you.

5) Thanks to the advent of the internet you can now buy many of your Christmas presents online. This can save time, effort and money. Certain gifts you might not find on the internet, but its always a good starting point.

6) Now the hardest bit. Going to the shops. Some people may enjoy this, many find the Christmas shopping experience a nightmare. Going early is the keyword.

If you don’t manage to go earlier in the year than December then at least go early in the morning.

You’ll beat the main crowds if you can be in the shops when they open then home for lunch.

So all that’s left now is just to wrap those gifts and enjoy Christmas. Oh and one last tip.

If you can get to the shops in the January sales this is a great time to buy everything for next Christmas.
Merry Christmas

Among the so many family Christmas gift ideas out there, handmade family Christmas presents always top the list.

Aside from being unique, various selections of family Christmas presents also reflect the value of the recipient.

Hand-made Christmas gifts may include a special painting of a family, a sculpture that symbolizes family unity, or pieces of clothing that embody familial spirit.

But, if you really want to give something concrete for a present, here are some unique family Christmas gifts you can choose from:

1. One-year subscription of the family’s favorite magazine or newspaper.

If the whole family is into reading a specific magazine or a newspaper, why not surprise them a year of subscription?

Aside from helping your parents out in cutting expenses caused by subscription, this is also a practical idea because all of the family members will benefit from it.

2. A new Bible. If your family is Catholic, a new Bible will definitely be a prized possession.

You can buy a newest or latest version in hardbound or if you want to be somehow techy, an audio Bible is perfect for the whole family especially for those members who love to drive.

Aside from being able to share it with everyone, copies of timeless movies can also be an investment in the future.

5. Fun stuff and games for the family. If you’re family is into playing a specific game together for a bonding,

then fun stuff and games such as board games, projects, and activities will be appreciated.

If you’re low on funds heading into the holidays, stress becomes a problem. Don’t sweat it. Here are some inexpensive Christmas gifts that will be hits with everyone.

1. Shower Microphone – If you’ve got shower singers among your friends and family, the shower microphone will get some chuckles…and use.

In truth, it is actually a sponge, but will serve the purpose for budding rock stars.

Best of all, you can pick up the shower microphone sponge for a whopping $9. Just do a search online for it.

2. Cold Heat Soldering Tool – For the man in your life, you can’t go wrong with tools of any type.

Whether you’re buying for a husband, son, dad or boyfriend, the cold heat soldering tool is a great inexpensive Christmas gift.

The tool lets them solder away to weld items together, but does so with cold technology instead of hot.

This lets you avoid expensive trips to the hospital and you only have to pay roughly $20.00.

3. Japanese Paper Soap – Perhaps one of the greatest accessories ever made.

For any traveler, bars of soap are a disaster. They never stay in their cases or wrapping resulting in soap suds and gunk everywhere. Japanese paper soap solves this problem nicely.

The paper is, well, paper, but has built in soap. You simply get your hands wet and rub a piece of the paper between them. Instant suds! When done, toss the paper out.

Pretty cool, eh? This incredible invention will set you back a whopping $10 for 50 sheets. Great inexpensive Christmas gifts for mom, girlfriends and, yes, sisters.

4. Nomad Writing Journals – If you’re buying for a person that loves the outdoors or to travel, Nomad Writing Journals make great gifts. These journals are tailored to activities such as travel, fly fishing, bird watching, backpacking, camping, rock climbing and so on.

They come with or without a case and provide writing space as well as cues for writing down important information.

A great keepsake for family members to preserve their travel and outdoor experiences. The journals cost as low as $9 without waterproof case and $25 with case.

When you’re low on funds during the holidays, the secret is to buy unique things for people.

Hopefully, the above list will give you a head start on finding inexpensive Christmas gifts this year.

Christmas Gift Ideas On A Budget

Teaching your children how to be thoughtful and caring when buying Christmas gifts should be an important part of Christmas.

It is also important to teach them how to manage their own money during the holiday season.

Be sure to let your kids get involved in Christmas by letting them make or purchase their own presents, even if they are small or low-cost.

If the children are too young to handle money, encourage them to make gifts for those they would like to give presents to.

Homemade gifts are more personal, and make for a fun and inexpensive Christmas for the kids.

Creating an Inexpensive Gift Basket

There are a number of things you can do to save money during the holiday season.

Think about making a creative homemade gift before going out and purchasing a gift.

Gift baskets are both fun and easy to create and can be put together rather inexpensively.

Take a picture of yourself, your family, or your children and put it in an inexpensive frame and give it as a gift to family members and close friends.

You can also add more practical items to the gift basket, such as cookie mix in a jar, a disposable camera, a hand-decorated photo album, note cards and a book of stamps, craft supplies,

a movie rental gift certificate, a small radio or clock, sewing materials, a handy flashlight with batteries, home-made cookie mix complete with a recipe for baking,

home baked bread with the recipe, new paper and a pen, or a gift certificate to their favorite book or department store.

These inexpensive Christmas gift ideas may actually get used by the recipient, unlike many more expensive gifts.

Other Money Saving Ideas

An excellent way to save money during the Christmas season is to spend less on wrapping paper and Christmas cards.

If you own a computer, you can design and print out your Christmas cards on inexpensive card stock paper.

This also allows you to personalize the cards by adding a personal picture, writing your own sayings, and adding your own images to them, such as an image of your decorated house.

You can even do this without a computer. Simply glue or tape your images to the card and write the Christmas message by hand.

You may even want to let the kids make the cards, especially the cards intended for their grandparents.

You can also make your own wrapping paper by buying less expensive paper such as that used to prepare packages for mailing. This type of paper can be found anywhere mail supplies are sold.

You can decorate the paper with sponges dipped in craft paints, rubber stamps, or potatoes cut in half and carved into various Christmas shapes, similar to the look of a rubber stamp.

Immerse the imprint into paint and have a lot of fun designing your very own wrapping paper.

To give your gifts a more antique or rustic look, you can use a combination of brown wrapping paper and twine instead of a ribbon.

Spending less on cards and wrapping paper will save you money and allow you to spend more on other great Christmas gift ideas.

Putting Some Thought Into the Gift

Put some thought and imagination into different gift ideas before you decide to go out and buy a Christmas gift.

You will probably come up with a number of better, more personal gifts, if you do a little work and make the gift yourself.

For a great and invaluable gift, refinish a cabinet or chest and give it to a family member or close friend.

Think of items people wouldn’t normally buy for themselves and what their interests are.

You can give things like a gift certificate to the local pet store for the pet lover on your Christmas list.

Give tickets to the movie theater to the movie lover, or a fascinating book to an avid reader.

A few other ideas such as prepaid photo developing envelopes, a bag of cashews, or a month’s unlimited tanning at a local tanning salon may also be well appreciated.

Most of these gifts, while being very easy on your budget, will surprise and please the recipient.

These are just a few examples of inexpensive Christmas gifts. Even the fussiest people can’t pass up on a gift that that is both thoughtful and has a personal touch.

Thrifty Tips For Buying Christmas Gifts

Being thrifty doesn’t mean becoming cheap. It’s simply a way to express your thoughtfulness and care to your loved ones this Christmas season without having to spend all of your savings.

As the saying goes, “It’s the thought that counts.” Of course giving away something as tacky as a piece of candy is not being thrifty, it’s just plain cheap.

To avoid being tagged as “Mr. or Ms. Scrooge without taste” this season, here are a few tips on how to give the perfect Christmas gift without breaking your piggy bank.

First, make a Christmas list. Write down the names of those who you want to give presents to and how much you’ll be willing to spend for a particular person.

It would also help to write down some ideas so you’d have an easier time once you’re shopping. Bear in mind that you don’t have to give all of your acquaintances presents.

Neighbors and officemates that you are not close with don’t necessarily have to be given gifts unless you have the extra budget to give them simple tokens.

Make sure you remember to write down all the important people in your list.

Second, make homemade gifts. Most people love receiving homemade gifts, especially those that they can really use.

Try to find out what they like so you can give them something they would like.

For example, if your mom loves to cook, you can give her a self-compiled cookbook with all her favorite recipes and you can even include yours too. Their likes may vary so be aware of what you’ll be making for them.

Third, use your talents. If you’re good at something use it to your advantage to give something very special this Christmas.

If you’re a photographer, take one-of-a-kind pictures of your family and have it framed.

If you love to write, you can write poems or short stories. If you’re into music, you can compose a special song just for them. If you’re good at crafts, make jewelry or pretty boxes.

Fourth, equality. One similar gift to each person can also be a thrifty way to give Christmas gifts.

Cookies or cakes are good choices as everyone can appreciate this and gain (a few calories) from it too.

Fifth, recycle. When wrapping up your Christmas presents you can use old newspapers.

If you’re using newspapers, make sure that it doesn’t have any stains and that it hasn’t turned into a disgusting shade of yellow.

You must also make sure that the content written on the newspaper is suitable for giving; you wouldn’t want any bad comments regarding your gifts.

Sixth, buy presents before the Christmas season. You can save up if you buy presents during sale season.

It will save you from the hassle of standing for hours at a long line, arguing with someone over the last piece of an item that you both want and you won’t

have to squeeze your way through hoards of people rushing to buy late Christmas gifts.

There are a lot of ways to be thrifty this Christmas season; you just have to be creative and patient.

And don’t stress yourself too much about the presents; after all it’s Christmas.
